Curved Landscape
“
The design philosophy for Norden Farm was to
fully integrate art into architecture.
This resulted in the unusual situation
of the main
building contractor constructing the artworks to the
artists’ designs, supervised by the architects.
The extent of this collaboration and the quality of the
communications was the key to the whole project.
The relationships and trust between individuals, spanning
architects, artists, the client and contractors, enabled us
to
easily overcome any adversities. The finished project
is a
testament to everyone’s patience, dedication and the
spirit of co-operation achieved."

“
Making Curved Landscape in all weathers, with the many
builders, tree planters, architects and engineers,
I was
aware of the connection between our own land-shaping
activities and the physical history of Norden Farm. My own
work is deeply rooted in intimate landscape
– the curves, colours and surfaces in the Courtyard are there
for your sense experience, discovery and pleasure.
The landscaping contains a flow of changing perspectives,
horizons and sensual details – private experiences in this
new, public space."
