The poured walls were developed in response to two commissions
for wall paintings - one public, one private.
Artpoint Trust commissioned Gough Daniels in '97 to work on the
permanent art commissions for Norden Farm, with particular focus
on the surface treatments and colour and, a private collector
- having commissioned two earlier site specific pieces, commissioned
a new work for a water closet.
The results have established a
new development in Gough Daniels' practice involving the creation
of site specific wall paintings which generate a unique
sense of place.
Gough Daniels views this work as a significant consolidatio,
linking her study of great works in Italian,
civic, sacred and domestic spaces, with her background in
the Forest environment and contemporary painting
practice.
